This weekend we traveled to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort in Orlando, Florida. This resort is currently getting a makeover, so there’s a lot of construction everywhere. Even with all of the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, we had the best time and would recommend booking today if you’re willing to compromise some of the magic for a lower than usual price per night.
Inside the lobby, you’ll find the staff ready to check you in. MAJOR COMPLAINT. Disney, why does it always take over 30 minutes to check in? I can’t even blame it on the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, because at any resort, it is always a long wait! I just don’t understand.
Besides the staff, you’ll find seating, Disney’s airline check-in service, bathrooms, an ATM, a mini gift shop with Disney themed snacks, a list of their available restaurants (MOST ARE CLOSED), and a wall dedicated to the resort titled, “Reimagining Disneys Caribbean Beach Resort.”
Guests will stay in one of the 6 Island themed villages, but that doesn’t mean you can’t island hop and explore the neighboring villages. We stayed in Aruba, which is one of the islands with a market place full of grab-n-go food and drink options, including complimentary coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. The view from our room was awesome! We could see the pool, the 45 acre Barefoot Bay, and some of the extensive construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! The best part was finding the 3 Disney Caribbean Beach Resort themed pins in our room!
If you decide to stay here, know that Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort guests are famous for decorating their big windows! Because we stayed in September, many had decorated them in a spooky, kid-friendly theme! Nobody cares about the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort; the decorating will happen regardless!
This is not one of the resorts that allow dogs; however, here are some resorts that do, as well as our experience bringing our dog, Cooper, to Disney! Bring your dog to a Disney Resort!
Outside, you’ll find a few hammocks and lounge chars that face Barefoot Bay, which make any construction zone look a lot more relaxing. After a few swings on the hammock, we headed to the Spy Glass Grill, one of the few dining options open during construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! We tried the Angus Bacon Cheeseburger, Cuban Sandwich, Shrimp Salad, and the Taco Trio (pork/beef). They were all good and highly recommended! As mentioned earlier, dining options are limited! The Centertown, 3 Island markets, mobile food vending, and in-room service are options, as well. Dining plans are also accepted.
Due to the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, noise can be heard anytime between 9am and dusk.
As you enter the Spanish themed pool area, you’ll see plenty of seating, a hot tub, some special characters, like Minnie Mouse, dancing with guests, a kid friendly Shipwreck themed water play area, the zero-entry pool, 2 water slides, and water canons that act as great back massagers!
To get to the top of the slide, you’ll climb a spiral staircase – wait for the green light and then shoot down the slide.
So, you know how some goggles don’t keep the water out or are too tight on your head? We bought our goggles are Disney, and these are the best goggles we’ve ever purchased! We highly recommend them! But if swimming isn’t your thing, we highly recommend bringing a book to read pool side! Here are some great options!
For families traveling with smaller swimmers in training, take advantage of their complimentary life jackets for a stress free pool experience. Bathrooms and towel pickups are available for all guests, so no worries if you forgot your towel at home!
Recreation Activity Leaders have your pool stay all planned out! Your children will have a blast playing with these experienced fun experts! They’ve got everything planned from the traditional water balloon toss to marshmallows ready for toasting at the fire pit later in the day! You may just forget all about the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort with their fun filled agendas!
While in Orlando, stop by Universal for a snack or two. Their food is one of the biggest reasons we go there! Tell me about food at Universal Studios ORL!
We stayed at the resort the entire day and felt there was plenty to do, even with all of the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! With the many activities scattered throughout the day, you may not even need to visit any of the parks. Just enjoy the resort!
Disney Resorts can be pricey, even when they are under construction, here’s how we make money while traveling!
Have you ever stayed at Disney Resort? What do you think about the construction at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort?
